Title: Social media coordinator

Reports to: Web content manager

Children International, a humanitarian organization focused on ending poverty, is seeking a social media coordinator. As part of our digital strategy team, you'll be serving an important role on social media, speaking up on behalf of kids living in poverty and raising awareness about the cause of global poverty. Learn more about our organization.

Is this you?

Are you right-brained? But also – left-brained? We want both!

Are you a creative writer and designer who wants to make a difference by working at an amazing non-profit in Kansas City?

But are you also, secretly, under all that creativity, mostly type-A and ridiculously organized?

You might be perfect. Not only as a person, but also as a candidate for our social media coordinator.

Here's what you'll be doing:
Creating content
  • Write and design memorable and share-worthy posts for our social channels, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest.
  • Develop creative ways to engage with our audiences through diverse posts, such as polls, quizzes, etc.
  • Align and report on measurable goals for social content.
  • Produce short videos and select amazing photography and videography that are on brand for social channels. (Bonus, but not required.)
Data analysis
  • Work with our web manager to analyze and present social trends and reporting.
  • Report on successes and learnings related to audience engagement.
Trend-watching
  • Develop a deep understanding of social trends, especially as it relates to non-profit or poverty-fighting organizations.
  • Benchmark against peer organizations and set measurable goals for social engagement.
Community management
  • Partner with our Care Team (our customer service department) to monitor and respond to questions and comments on our social channels, and provide expertise and recommendations for moderation.
Organizational guru
  • Manage our social media calendar and posting schedule.
  • Coordinate and post content across all social channels.
Requirements:

Degree in journalism or marketing, 2-4 years' experience managing social channels and 2-4 years' writing for an in-house marketing or creative department or a creative agency. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office and working in a CMS.
