Children International is a nonprofit organization working to eradicate poverty around the world. At CI, we believe that every child matters and that it is simply unacceptable that over a billion children live in poverty. The CI approach is to invest in our kids and youth to grow up healthy, educated, employed and empowered to break the cycle of poverty and become positive agents of change in their communities.
Today, Children International directly invests in more than 280,000 children and youth through 13 agencies in 10 countries around the world. In addition, about 1,400 mission-driven employees around the world and about 8,000 volunteers help our kids overcome poverty. The person we are seeking as our International Human Resource Manager will be capable of creating global strategies to recruit high impact leaders and team members, developing them to their greatest potential and sharing best practices worldwide so that we can deliver on our goal of directly serving 1,000,000 children and youth by 2025.
The work Children International does on behalf of children in poverty is funded primarily through a one-to-one sponsorship model. We are transforming our funding model to dramatically increase the support we give our kids. Additionally, we are taking our programs from good to great by elevating our people systems and practices worldwide. That’s where you come in.
Children International, a $145 million international humanitarian organization, is seeking an exceptional global people developer to serve as International Human Resource Manager (Bilingual English/Spanish). We believe that the dramatic growth of our mission can only happen through people and this role serves in a key capacity to support that growth through the development of talent.
The Kansas City-based position will report to the Vice President of Global Talent Growth and will influence our operations in 10 different countries around the world by partnering with regional directors, country directors and country-level HR staff.
In this influential management position, you will discover that we address global poverty at the root level by working directly with children and youth around the world. We believe that children and youth are the single best answer to breaking the cycle of poverty, especially generational poverty. Our approach is far more than poverty alleviation. We focus on developing and delivering programs based on four pillars: health, education, empowerment and employment. This holistic approach, delivered in community centers around the world by an amazing team, really works.
You will be responsible for supporting the design and implementing a system for global talent selection, on-boarding, learning and development, performance management, and compensation/benefits administration. As a progressive and innovative leader, you will strive to create a culture of mission-focus, results orientation, ownership and collaboration among our employees and volunteers. This will be achieved through people practices that are competitive and challenging and which provide opportunities for both personal and professional growth. We’re looking for an extraordinary thought leader, an experienced HR professional, and a visionary to take Children International’s people practice to new heights. We are looking for that special person who is a passionate advocate for children and thrives on unleashing others’ potential.
This position is critical to the future of Children International. It promises to be challenging, but you’ll see the reward of the job in the eyes of the youth who graduate from our programs, and in the gratitude of the employees who have grown and developed to make it happen. If your heart is beating a little faster at this point, you could be the person we are looking for.
