From the eyes of a photojournalist

some of our favorite images, collected by our global staff

In our communities around the world, our agency journalists serve as the eyes and ears for Children International.

The photos below give an inside view into some of the schools, neighborhoods and homes of our sponsored children and families. Take a moment to reflect on some of our favorite scenes from our global community.

This community center, located in the Atucucho region of Quito, Ecuador, serves around 2,700 sponsored children. Sitting in the northwestern part of the city, it’s a safe haven for families in a neighborhood riddled with gangs and drug dealers.

Sponsored children in Colombia took part in the #GettyMuseumChallenge, which encouraged participants to recreate their favorite art pieces at home. In Honduras, volunteer mother Bricelda makes a traditional holiday dessert to share with her family, called “torrejas.” Similar to a pancake, and customized with different spices, torrejas are an end to a holiday meal that many Honduran families consider a staple.

Need more up-to-date photos and summarized information by country about how CI helps sponsored children during the pandemic - 2020. Do CI community centers remain closed to children? When will they be reopened? How did CI connect with children during the pandemic? What did CI give to alleviate children hardship during the pandemic? These are things I who sponsor 6 children want to know. I ask that CI communicates these to sponsors regularly during the pandemic.
