Giving HOPE to youth in poverty

leadership insights series August 2019

My name is Angel More and I believe in making HOPE a reality.

I began fundraising for Children International in grade school, when I climbed Mount Kilimanjaro – the tallest free-standing mountain in the world. Because I was the youngest girl to make the climb, it received media attention. I quickly realized I wanted the spotlight on something bigger than myself, and decided to support kids in Children International’s programs.

I’m now 16 and a senior in high school. Although I still love the mountains, open-water swims have become one of my primary passions. I was the youngest person to complete the California Triple Crown of Marathon Swimming and many other long-distance swims since. I also care deeply about children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

So I’ve combined my two heart-driven interests into an ambitious goal we’re calling Angel’s HOPE. (Helping Overcome Poverty through Education). I’m determined to help 5,000 youth around the world by raising $1 million to fund scholarships for them. Check out Angel’s HOPE and see how you can make a difference, too.
