Kansas City, Mo. (February 20, 2024) – Children International has established a new partnership with Mindojo, making digital education more accessible and equitable for marginalized children everywhere. In operation since 2008, Mindojo is an education technology company that creates “remote-first” courses designed to help people learn skills to acquire better jobs and achieve their life goals.

Mindojo’s immersive English-language learning application (app), called Plingo — is an award-winning, gamified platform for learning to speak, read and write in English. This app is designed for ages 4–14, is accessible in more than 130 languages, leverages adaptive-learning AI to adjust to the user, and includes a curriculum informed by global English language proficiency standards.

Plingo is highly accessible offline, requiring internet connectivity only for initial download. Once downloaded, it can be used without the need for constant internet connection – an advantage for those living in the vulnerable communities served by Children International and its partners.

This international partnership is being rolled out its first year (2024) to five of the countries where Children International operates. Taking a phased approach, this program is expected to reach more than 80,000 children and youth in Zambia, the Philippines, Colombia, Ecuador and the Dominican Republic.

We're excited to collaborate with Children International, bringing Plingo, our immersive English Language Learning app, to thousands of children globally. This marks a significant step in our commitment to delivering an enjoyable and inclusive learning experience, fostering equitable education for the next generation.”

– Guy Zaslavsky, CEO at Plingo

We are enhancing Children International’s commitment to child and youth development by complementing our existing programs in education and digital literacy and equipping youth for employment post-graduation. Learning English is a marketable skill when young adults are ready to enter the global workforce. It can serve as a vital steppingstone that helps them secure employment, overcome socio-economic challenges and break the cycle of generational poverty.

Children International is coordinating with cross-sector partners, such as local governments, schools, peer organizations and libraries to ensure the greatest access and availability of this transformative app.
