Transform a life. Sponsor a child in Ecuador today.

See how sponsorship works

Nearly 30% of all Ecuadorians live in poverty — a figure that rises to 43% in rural areas. Worse still, nearly half of all children in Ecuador are impoverished, meaning they lack access to adequate education, health and other basic needs.* Just one in every four children have access to a computer, for example, resulting in a digital divide that hinders the educations of approximately 63% of school-age Ecuadorian children.*

Other educational barriers for vulnerable children in Ecuador include teacher shortages and inadequate teaching spaces, economic difficulty in buying uniforms, insufficient school infrastructure, teen pregnancy and a lack of transportation for students whose schools are far from home.*

We work in marginalized communities of Ecuador, where unequal access to health, education and other vital services exacerbate and compound the effects of poverty. Without the interventions made possible through sponsorship, underprivileged children in Ecuador stand very little chance of reaching their full potential.

What is child sponsorship?

Child sponsorship connects two people — a sponsor with a generous heart and a child living in poverty. From toddlerhood to young adulthood, our child and youth development program equips kids with crucial life and job skills to break the cycle of poverty. For good.

At Children International, we believe every child deserves the chance to thrive. And with support from caring individuals and philanthropic organizations, young people around the world are unlocking their potential. As they get older, they gain vital life skills and explore future career paths that help them pursue meaningful work and path out of poverty.

Your role as a sponsor and friend in your child’s life makes all this possible — and lets them know they are not alone in their fight for a better future.
