I love writing and sketching. However, I sketch better when I am sad. I smile a lot, too — a trait I learned when I was little mainly to get treats. All grown up now and working with vulnerable kids, smiling helps me get my work done successfully. Additionally, I see that vulnerable kids — though faced with many deprivations — still find the strength to smile back at me and, for that, I am glad I traded off pro-sketching.
