POSITION SUMMARY

The Operations Specialist is a member of the Global Programs and Operations (GPO) department and works to develop and implement strategies to address complex operational needs. The position collaborates closely with a diverse set of stakeholders, both across different departments in headquarters and with teams in the field, to ensure alignment with the goals of the broader organization. This role is ideal for someone passionate about combatting global poverty and interested in developing and implementing a wide variety of operational solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist in creating and implementing a set of global standards for field-facing guidance from headquarters; develop tools and resources to support stakeholders across headquarters to align their guidance to these standards.
  • Lead engagements with field staff to diagnose common execution challenges; develop global solutions and/or enable local innovation.
  • Develop communication products to support effective implementation of headquarters priorities in the field; shape the GPO internal communications strategy to be responsive to stakeholder needs across the organization.
  • Develop tools and guidance to support an annual planning, budgeting and reporting cycle that enables field leaders to effectively manage local resources to achieve key objectives.
  • Represent GPO in coordination forums with other headquarters stakeholders, adapting GPO and field priorities into language that will resonate across the organization while ensuring GPO and field teams deliver on the needs of other departments.
  • Lead special projects assigned by the VP of GPO, which may relate to acting as the business owner for new IT tool development, opening new country offices and filling short-term operational gaps.
PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a nonprofit organization or business. Project and organizational management experience is preferred but not required
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience
  • Strong analytical skills and clear communication abilities, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, learn quickly, and develop innovative solutions
  • Excellent organization, management, and follow-through skills
  • Strong oral and written English skills required. Proficiency in Spanish preferred
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to engage with diverse groups
  • Demonstrated vision and commitment to supporting social service and/or humanitarian causes
