When to write my first letter

Hello everyone, I just started my sponsorship yesterday so I'm all new with this. My kid is only 4, turning 5 soon. I'm wondering when should I send my first letter to him? Should I wait for the welcome letter to arrive first then reply, or should I send out my introduction letter now?

Thanks for your help and suggestions :)

There is no right or wrong answer. It's depends on what you want to do. If you want you can wait for the welcome letter and reply to that or you can go ahead and write your letter now. If you write a letter right away you will likely get two letters back to back, the welcome and the response letter. In some cases you might get your response letter before your welcome letter comes in. So go with your heart lol

Welcome to Children International, uthnguyen! Like Cepps31 said, it is entirely up to you - but whenever you decide to write, I know he will be so excited to hear from you! :)

I wrote my letter first before I got my welcome letter, so I was really excited. I wrote her letter and then send her a card. so now I am trying to wait to get my first letter from her. *sigh* it feel like its take forever to get the letter. I am hanging in there.

I know how you feel. I sponsored my first child on the 26th and then 2 more on the 1st and 2nd. I am so excited. I sent my 2 year old and 7 year old letters too and cant wait for a response. I keep checking back every few hours LOL.

Hi. New as well! We are sponsoring a 4 year old little girl. I decided to send her a letter online before our welcome package came..we received the package but nothing from Kyline or her family yet...does anyone know how long of a wait it usually is for a message of letter from the sponsored child/family to arrive?

@CHRISTOPHER_8db92, it can typically take around 6 weeks from when you being sponsoring to receive your first letter from your sponsored child. If you have any more questions, please feel free to reach out to the Care Team.

If you can send an extra gift, if you do $100 or more you get pictures of your child with what they bought
