BUILDING A COMMUNITY CENTER IN SHAHABAD DAIRY INDIA

Success!

The Ahuja Family Community Center was inaugurated on August 6, 2016. This center gives over 5,000 kids access to regular medical care and educational support. Just as importantly, encouraging role models will help them grow up healthy, educated and empowered with the skills they need to find good jobs.

About Shahabad Dairy

Shahabad Dairy is a slum in the northwest part of Delhi, India. It is home to more than 21,000 families crammed into a six-block area. Residents settled here more than 25 years ago when they were evicted from government and private lands in Delhi.

Because they live so far from the central city, employment opportunities for residents are nearly impossible to find. The average monthly salary is US$100, which isn’t even enough to provide two meals per day for a typical family.

Naming opportunities

A chance to leave a lasting impression on the Ahuja Family Community Center by naming one of the rooms is still available. The very spaces that are changing the lives of kids will feature the name of you or someone you love.
