Title:IT Support Specialist – Temporary Part Time

Reports To: Director of IT Operations

Work Hours: 20 hours per week

Work Schedule: Flexible between 7:30am - 5:00pm, Monday through Thursday; 7:30am - Noon, Friday

Internship Duration: 6 – 12 months

Position Summary

Children International is a nonprofit organization working to eradicate poverty around the world. This position offers practical work experience in a Windows-based environment as well as an opportunity to gain an understanding of how a nonprofit operates. Through real, meaningful work, the intern can gain exposure to and guidance in adding value in the professional workplace through a combination of technology and business acumen.

The scope of work for this position includes support, installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of computer systems by performing the essential duties and responsibilities described below

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Configure PCs for new hires and perform PC upgrades.
  • Use Symantec Ghost or similar software to image PCs.
  • Coordinate third-party repair of PCs and peripherals.
  • Maintain documentation as necessary.
  • Respond to the needs and questions of employees concerning the operation of various computer hardware and software programs.
  • Provide software support for desktop software such as MS Office, MS Project, MS Access, and various Windows based applications.
  • Track and monitor help requests to ensure a timely resolution.
  • Maintain and/or establish relationships with vendors for purchasing supplies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong customer service skills
  • Currently enrolled as a 3rd or 4th year student pursuing a degree in a computer science or computer network related field or recent graduate of the same
  • Experience with MS Windows 7/8/10 Professional
  • Experience with MS Office products
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work as part of a team and interact positively on a 360-degree basis
  • Demonstrates positive, can-do spirit
  • Ability to complete work with minimal direction and exercise sound judgement on when to ask for help
  • Strong work ethic
