About Children International

Children International is a nonprofit organization working to eradicate poverty around the world. At CI, we believe that every child matters and that it is simply unacceptable that over a billion children live in poverty. The CI approach is to invest in our kids and youth by providing a safe place, a caring team and a path out of poverty through programs in health, education, empowerment and employment. We provide this support for 250,000 children in 13 agencies working across 10 countries around the world.

The work Children International does on behalf of children in poverty is funded primarily through a one-to-one sponsorship model. We are transforming our funding model to dramatically increase the support we provide our kids. Additionally, we are taking our programs from good to great by elevating our people systems and practices worldwide. That’s where you come in.

Position summary

We are seeking an exceptional leader passionate about creating hope and opportunity for young people to serve as the Senior Manager for Global Education. We believe that education and the completion of secondary school is a critical milestone associated with holistic child and youth development. Young people that achieve this milestone are better equipped and positioned in the world to access opportunities and break free from poverty.

This position will report to the Director of Programs and will manage our global portfolio of education programs across 10 countries world-wide, partnering with technical experts in education, as well as country-level management and education staff in this process.

In this influential management position you will discover that we address global poverty at the root level by working directly with children and youth around the world. We believe that children and youth are the single best answer to breaking the cycle of poverty, especially generational poverty. Our approach is far more than poverty alleviation. We focus on developing and delivering programs based on four pillars: health, education, empowerment and employment. This holistic approach, delivered in community centers around the world by an amazing team, really works.

You will be responsible for providing people and thought leadership on global education programs and initiatives. This individual works closely with technical experts, in-country program staff and the Director of Programs in the management and execution of these programs in Latin America, Africa and Asia. The position will engage with staff and partners to develop and lead Children International's education strategy, development of sector partnership, and provide input on fundraising and proposal development. This individual will serve as a principal source of education program information for Children International headquarters' departments and external partners.

As a progressive and innovative leader, you will support the organization’s commitment to a culture of mission-focus, results orientation, ownership and collaboration among our employees and volunteers.

This position is critical to the future of Children International. It promises to be challenging, but you’ll see the reward of the job in the eyes of the youth who graduate from our programs, and in the gratitude of the employees who have grown and developed to make it happen.
