Children International
2000 East Red Bridge Road
Kansas City, MO 64131
Children International is a nonprofit humanitarian organization working to eradicate poverty around the world. At CI, we believe that every child matters and that it is simply unacceptable that over a billion children live in poverty. The CI approach is to invest in our kids and youth by providing a safe place, a caring team and a path out of poverty through programs in health, education, empowerment and employment. We provide this support for 220,000 children in 13 agencies working in 10 countries around the world.
The work Children International does on behalf of children in poverty is funded primarily through a one-to-one sponsorship model. We are transforming our funding model to dramatically increase the support we provide our kids. Additionally, we are taking our programs from good to great by elevating our people systems and practices worldwide. That’s where you come in.
We are seeking an exceptional leader passionate about education programming for young people to serve as the Program Officer for Education. We believe that education and the completion of secondary school is a critical milestone associated with holistic child and youth development. Young people that achieve this milestone are better equipped and positioned in the world to access opportunities and break free from poverty.
This Kansas City-based position will report to the Director of Global Programs and will influence our global portfolio of education programs across 10 countries worldwide, partnering with country-level management and education staff in this process.
The Program Officer position is responsible for providing people and thought leadership on education programs and initiatives, including but not limited to supporting local execution of relevant school enrollment and school completion strategies, as well as effective supplemental math and literacy programs. This person will also provide oversight and technical support on the portfolio of education programs globally, especially related to design, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of these programs. This person will need to know how to access external technical assistance as needed related to building and strengthening our Education strategy, programs, and adherence to best practices.
