POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Child/Family and Sponsor Connections reports to the VP of Global Programs and Operations and is accountable for building the global engagement system that supports sponsor connections as well as child/family connections globally. This role will serve as a center of excellence for engagement practices as well as the global facilitator of two-way, end-to-end connections with sponsors and children/youth/families. In addition, this position will partner with the agencies and IT in the tools used for successful end-to-end engagement.

This role will partner closely with Fundraising to manage the end-to-end process of sponsor connections. In addition, this role will be a key partner with the agencies in connecting families to community resources and programs and seeking increased family engagement and program participation. This role will ensure the timely collection of sponsor connection requirements globally and will be a key participant in the initiative to increase sponsor retention.

This position is critical to the future of Children International and provides an exciting opportunity to transition our approach and tools for engagement for all stakeholders end-to-end to create long term relationships for greater impact in line with the mission of CI.

We are looking for a passionate advocate for children and an innovator for engagement who can lead and coach the transition to, and development of, novel approaches to the traditional sponsorship requirement fulfillment process. Top candidates will be exemplary communicators, with a background in marketing and connection approaches and an understanding of both child/family and sponsor engagement needs.

What will you be responsible for?

  • Creating the environment of connection between families and CI in the field and children/youth/families with sponsors. Own the evolution and relationship building of the connecting with families’ initiative.
  • Participate with Marketing in the joint development of the sponsors’ journey strategy and management and coaching of the field in its execution.
  • Develop and facilitate agreement on the registration strategy for children and youth, balancing marketing plan and agency growth needs, and execution of this plan with the agencies.
  • Provide coaching and tools to support agencies in relationship building with families and youth and encouraging them to greater program and activity participation with CI.
  • Create and sustain partnerships with programs, fundraising and IT at all levels.
  • Partner in the development of engagement methods to support the 25% reduction in first year attrition. Lead the transition of traditional sponsorship requirements to evolving expectations.
  • Ensure delivery of current sponsorship requirements.
  • Participate as a key member of the strategic choice on Sponsor - Child Engagement.
  • Partner in the management of child safeguarding program from all aspects – field and sponsor.
  • Manage the CI family emergency fund.
  • Coordinate the volunteer program intentions in capturing sponsorship connection requirements.
  • Engage with IT in the tools to best enable connection of sponsors and families.
  • Manage a regional staff to support and coach connection and relationship building, participate in problem identification and solving, and ensure training in tools and best practices.
  • Strictly observe confidentiality and strong ethics with respect to all beneficiary information/financial and other organizational data.
  • Comply with and ensure adherence to the agency’s policies, safety and security protocols and child safeguarding norms and guidelines by self as well all stakeholders both internal and external.
  • Promote diversity and inclusion, value other cultures, and demonstrate respect while relating with all organizational constituents irrespective of their race, color, faiths, gender, sexual orientation, age, caste, disabilities, experiences, beliefs, and ethnicity.
The ideal candidate will bring:
  • An understanding of customer engagement techniques and an ability to coach execution for results.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish.
  • Five years of experience in customer service and field operations, ideally managing a team with direct customer engagement.
  • A willingness to travel.
  • Experience with connection tools and the ability to translate field engagement needs to technical professionals for development and support.
  • Leadership skills to lead change management with a diverse global team in the evolution of relationship building and in partnership with the community leaders.
  • A background in social work engagement with families a plus.
