Youth ambassadors teach children about proper hygiene and fellow youth about reproductive health and pregnancy prevention. Illness, disease or an untimely pregnancy can create an insurmountable roadblock for a young person.
The YHC enlists young volunteers to deliver life-saving information. In regards to sensitive subjects,
the best teachers for youth are the youth themselves.
Some highlights of last year’s Youth Health Corps:
- 865 volunteer peer educators
- 59,591 total peer contacts
- Taboo, superstition and embarrassment replaced by
normalization,
education and openness |
