| Kansas City, MO – A victory for impoverished children around the world! Consumers Digest magazine has named Children International, a Kansas City-based nonprofit child sponsorship organization, as one of “America’s Top Charities!” for 2006. Consumers Digest’s survey ranked Children International eighth among other humanitarian organizations based upon the amount of direct public support, with an 80.6% program spending efficiency rate. Consumers Digest also rated Children International as a top charity among Development/Humanitarian Relief organizations in 2003. “We work hard every day to help provide needy children around the world with medical care and educational supplies. In order to accomplish that, Children International maximizes the use of donations by purchasing supplies in bulk and receiving product donations from generous corporations,” said Children International President and CEO, Jim Cook. “It is important also for our donors to know that strict accountability is exercised with regard to the distribution of donated funds.” Children International received more than $107 million in direct public support last year from thousands of concerned donors – making it possible for the organization to effectively change the lives of thousands and thousands of poor children throughout the world. About Children International: Established in 1936, Children International is a nonprofit organization with its headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri. Children International’s sponsorship program benefits over 322,000 children around the world in 11 countries including Chile, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Mexico, the Philippines, Zambia and the United States.
